Erectile dysfunction medicines seized in Glengormley
8 April 2011
Large quantities of unlicensed medicines have been seized by Department of Health authorities throughout a search of a house in Glengormley.
A man was interviewed by department officers about and consequently providing unlicensed impotence medications via the web.
The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medication offenses.
He will now be the subject of a report to the general public Prosecution Service.
The search was carried out by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.
Its senior enforcement workplace, Peter Moore, said: "It is vital that we get the message across that unlicensed medicines can be dangerous.
"These kinds of products being sold, normally online, have undergone no quality control and there can be no guarantee about their security.
"You just do not know what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More importantly, you do not know the effect drugs like this may have on your health."
